Among the activities of NIFO is the production of brake discs for self-braking electric motors.

The heart of self-braking electric motors is the electromagnetic brake disc with negative action which operates in the event of a power failure causing the engine to stop. This brake must therefore offer stopping accuracy and a high degree of effectiveness and safety.

For over fifteen years NIFO has developed and patented a solution that uses as support a techno polymer which is co-moulded together with the friction material. This innovation allows the shaft/disc coupling to be far more quiet than traditional aluminium discs while ensuring the same mechanical qualities of the latter.
